For what it’s worth, after watching Frank’s interview the other day I think that this still ends up on BT. They’ll be seething about it but they’re going to have to do it to save face - if they want to continue with boxing that is. If they lost this fight it would be a real pie in the face.
I would like BT to get it, but I think it ends up on Sky. They seem to be making space for it on their schedule by looking to move Chisora - Usyk to the end of March and not the beginning. It could be totally unrelated, but I would be surprised if it is and it would mark the end of Franks involvement with Fury after the fight, as I think most of us have predicted that he will go to Hearn/Sky especially if the AJ fight is available.
One of the reasons why Fury turned down Hearn was that he didn't want to play second fiddle to Joshua. No way does Fury fight Joshua on a Matchroom Card. He would be the away fighter. Matchroom casuals would snap up all the tickets, Sky commentary would be biased.
If and it's a big if fury v Joshua gets made it will be where it makes the most money and that would be in the uk on sky imo.what better alternatives are there? Doubt they would put it on in the states.
Indeed. Also, sky have a bigger reach and more established ppv audience, so they can afford to bid more than the fight's potentially worth to BT. They can drain their competitors pockets at little to no risk. Frank and Fury have stitched BT up here.
It'll do bigger numbers on sky as they can promote it on the football of which they have lots of and sky sports news which bt having nothing near to having. It's great for getting hype going. That said with no press conferences i can see it being a bit lower than ruiz v joshua 1 due to the timezone etc so suspect bt will match sky's bid
This fight ain't happening, I'm almost convinced of it. One of the biggest heavyweight fights in 20 years and zero promotion.
Fury emphasising that he's in a gruelling, repetetive camp. He's also mentioned retirement again recently. I reckon he's not enjoying it anymore. He's gone back to the old school stuff and like when he was under Peter, it gets him down. However, Peter got the best performances out of him and I think Sugarhill can do the same. Suffer now, reap the rewards later. I think he's wise enough now to see out the last three fights on his contract professionally but we'll see another hiatus after that. He may never come back although I think he'll come back a few times before he retires for good. Wilder2-Wilder3-Joshua - if he signs off on those three fights he's entitled for retire forever. Wouldn't that be excellent.
