My posts are realistic about female fights as nearly all suck the life out of a pleasurable evening of boxing. This is no different than going to watch a Premier League Football match with cracking action for 30 mins, then the women play for 15 mins before and after half time before the men play the final 30 minutes. The football fans would not have it and boxing fans should not have this nonsense imposed on their sport.
Yes we know, you have told us constantly. Cant wait for the next female fight so we can all hear the same comments from you for the hundredth time. Now that is boring
Couldn't agree more with this. An excellent analogy. Having a female only card will test the water about how popular it really is. They won't do it cause they know it will bomb. I remember around the time that Hearn left Sky that Adam Smith announced that they had made a deal with a female promoter for women only cards. We never saw one did we ? There's no money in a lot of men's shows, there's none in women's. Who's attending? Not many women that's for sure. Just the super hardcore and some assorted weirdos. I've said this before, look at the BBC boxing website and most of the stories are about women's boxing. They think Natasha Jonas is Roberto Duran. Other than BBC Wales borrowing the Price fight off Sky, there's no chance the BBC will invest in Women's boxing and women's boxing is a sport that has BBC written all over it. Great post Beale.
Sav Marshall vs Clarrisa Shields was a female only card with 11 female bouts on. It did well and was a decent night.
There's a lot of money floating around when it comes to diversity and inclusion. Even though the returns don't justify the outlay, it doesn't stop woke executives and CEO's from going down this path and piissing money up the wall on this kind of thing. It's seen as social responsibility for big corporations to be doing something like this. It looks good when it comes to the AGM every year. It's all a load of bollox how womens boxing has been pushed onto us.
Yes, you got me there. To be fair, I was interested in that main event because prior to that contest Marshall had looked the exception to the rule and appeared to carry some power. Alternatively you could say that as there hasn’t been a women only card since it didn’t do that great. Big ratings would have led to a repeat surely.
Speaking to promoters its clearly just used to fill the cards very cheaply, you can put on a women's world title fight for less than a Campbell Hatton tick over fight and of course it ticks a few boxes in the diversity and inclusion columns. Not my cup of tea but as with 99% of things in boxing its purely business.
Hopefully the Saudi's continue to ignore those diversity and inclusion columns focussing on boxing cards full of male fights.
When you want something you use the term 'his excellency ' @Beale . Not 'the Saudis' Everyone is doing it!
like it or not womens sport is gaining more and more traction: https://www.sportspromedia.com/wome...search-increase-world-sport-leagues-redtorch/ https://www.sportspromedia.com/news...als-increase-growth-sponsor-united-2023-2024/ https://www.sportspromedia.com/news...stment-spend-2024-sports-innovation-lab-ally/
Nothing against women's sporting events and of the opinion that all female sport should stand alone like Football, Tennis and Golf etc. There should be separate Male and Female cards in boxing as woke garbage should not be forced on boxing and boxing fans. If female only cards and fights are good quality, just like the men these will fill Wembley Stadium and have millions more paying Box Office to watch them on TV.
Why? MMA doesn't have an issue with women fights on the card. It's simply another fight like the rest of the card. Women were fighting on MMA promotions cards long before women boxing did similar or so called woke garbage was blamed for everything. It's really not that big of deal. Do some fights suck? They sure do but so do a whole heap of mens boxing fights. I'm not sure women's MMA or boxing Will ever reach and stage where it could stage female only shows regularly and fill arenas or stadiums. No matter if the product was top level stuff women fighting will always have the "women shouldn't fight" audience to contend with.
