He’s a narcissistic who wants the spotlight on him, he couldn’t accept his son telling him he wanted to be his own man. I get the feeling Sr would have been an extremely overpowering father, and now Jr is a man who can make his own way he struggles to accept it. The way he was parading around the streets with Michael Watson didn’t sit right with me either, it comes across as a look at me look at what I did kind of notion, very typical behaviour of a narcissist. If Eubank was in his son’s corner for this fight he wouldn’t be kicking up a stink like he is.
As you outline well. Seniors only concerns are about how to get the spotlight back on him. He cannot honestly expect a grown man to still be doing everything his father tells him to do. Part of growing up is to become your own man and make your own decisions. I saw some clips the other day of when Senior used to be involved in Juniors career, and he was doing this cringeworthy dancing on stage at Juniors press conference to get the attention and the eyeballs on him. He does not have genuine concerns about Eubank Jr- and from watching some of his youtube channel he does not have much in interest in modern boxing in general. He lives in a time warp and does the channel to promote himself and stroke his own ego.
He needs the limelight more than he needs a relationship with his son, just look at the video of him driving around Brighton in a huge American style monster truck, beeping his horn and hanging out the window. No one does that if they aren't absolutely craving attention. Someone made a comment about how Sr is stuck in the past, and would have us writing letters to each other instead of sending emails, seems about right.
