The whole thing is dodgy, if I read it right.

    A) Testing organizations have no authority to overturn fights. They make recommendations to ratings organizations, who make the decisions. Hence, Fury-Hammer still a victory for Fury after all of these years,

    B) If I read correctly, this was all instigated by the IBA...that dodgy Russian amateur organization that also puts on semi-pro fights. What have they have do with Povetkin? Are they not going to recognize the fights? Who cares?

I am not defending Povetkin. Maybe he is a cheat. But I am guessing we are not going to look at Boxrec next week and see a bunch of No-contests, or in five years, for that matter. Let's wait and see.

He once packed a powerful punch, but the former Olympic super-heavyweight champion has been sanctioned with a four-year period of ineligibility after violating the International Boxing Association’s (IBA) anti-doping rules by using a prohibited substance on WADA’s list.

After being notified of the case and informed of his procedural rights, Povetkin decided not to challenge the sanction and accept the forfeiture of 2014’s results in accordance with Articles 9 and 10.8 of the IBA ADR, effectively taking a hit to his boxing legacy

I like Wlad as much as anyone on here but if you think he was ever being seriously tested then I have a bridge to sell you. Him and his brother controlled the BDF like Mafia bosses. He even strong armed them into making the IBF reduce Pulev’s mandatory purse by like 10% cos he was talking too much trash before their fight lmao.

Joshua of course is a walking pharmacy. If they tested him the cup would probably start boiling.

They can change numbers on Boxrec but they can't change Dillians Whytes chin and career getting shattered.

There's a bunch of guys who owe Wilder a big apology. Calling him a ducker, saying that Wilder's team set up Povetkin. LOL

About time they start putting the kabosh on these cheats. Remove Fury, James Toney, Mayweather(all 4 of them) Canelo, Roy Jones, Shane Mosley. Who else? Oh yeah, that giant fool from Australia. LOL

I mean, if that time comes, I will be happy to apologize. But as I noted above, we have to wait and see. I see no evidence that this thing goes beyond the IBA, no evidence that any real ratings organization intends to endorse it, and have not heard Povetkin's response--if indeed it turns out to be something worth responding to.

I am not saying that you are wrong, just that I have not seen evidence that this is really a thing, yet.

He once packed a powerful punch, but the former Olympic super-heavyweight champion has been sanctioned with a four-year period of ineligibility after violating the International Boxing Association’s (IBA) anti-doping rules by using a prohibited substance on WADA’s list.

Sure, but punish the active cheaters because that’s where the danger is. Who really thought it was a good idea to hunt down someone who’s been retired for years?!?! This does nothing and protects no one.

Hasim Rahman sure as heck thought Povetkin was on PEDs during their fight. I listened to a podcast interview of him about a year ago and he was talking about how convinced he was of this.

This is cartoonish. Removing his results for 10 years? Will they do that for Whyte or any non-Russian fighter? And if not, what does that say?

All you have to know to see this is a political situation is 'International agency' and this line: Professor Richard McLaren into allegations of systemic doping practices in Russian sport.

That means an Anglosphere individual clearly going after Russians.
It's consistent with the crusade against the population including banning them (or trying to) from Wimbledon, Olympics etc.

Seriously, people are so gullible they can't see that cleaning out a decade or someone's resume is not consistent with anything ever seen in boxing suspensions?

The hypocrisy of the Anglosphere in this regard is so repulsive when you clearly have obvious PED users massively protected by the system and crusaders absolutely turn a blind eye. The idea if they haven't been busted they are clean is laughable. Let's just have a look at HW.

AJ - obviously roider, put on bulk like changing clothes.
Whyte - already busted and protected.
Miller - already busted, chem lab.
Wilder - put on 20lbs+ in one fight cycle against Fury and has ridiculous outlier power, obvious roider.
Zhang - Chinese guy has the biggest punch at HW now, okay. Under that fat is some serious 'Chinese female swim team' musculature.
Chisora - Suddenly started dropping tough opponents after never having big power and has absurd longevity with a grinder style all while fat, roids.
Helenius - Got busted for AJ fight. Should we remove ten years of results now?
Thompson / Turk - Both KO'd Price and got busted later for PEDs, so does Price get his losses removed now?

'The West' has zero self-awareness anymore, it's just embarrassing to live in it.

It isn't real. This is just an IBA thing. I have found an article that makes it clearer from November...

THE INTERNATIONAL TESTING AGENCY (ITA), LEADING AN INDEPENDENT ANTI-DOPING PROGRAM FOR THE INTERNATIONAL BOXING ASSOCIATION (IBA), HAS ASSERTED AN ANTI-DOPING RULE VIOLATION (ADRV) AGAINST THE RUSSIAN BOXER ALEXANDER POVETKIN FOR THE USE OF A PROHIBITED SUBSTANCE BASED ON DATA RETRIEVED BY THE WORLD ANTI-DOPING AGENCY (WADA) FROM THE MOSCOW LABORATORY.

    https://ita.sport/news/the-ita-asse...-investigations-mclaren-report-and-lims-data/

No fights are going to be removed from Boxrec, or anything. This seems to me to be purely IBA masturbation.

as much as i hate doping, it would be absurd to over turn Povetkin's results given that at least half of all fighters are on roids.

I have called out Povetkin for PEDs use and called him overrated...

    https://www.boxingforum24.com/threads/i-think-povetkin-is-a-bit-overrated.729473/

But the IBA (and let me take a minute to laugh at those corrupt buffoons) want to eliminate 12 fights of history, or however many it is, then submit the findings to the real ratings organizations for verification. I think we all know that it is not going to happen, and why.

What a load of politically motivated nonsense. Let's see them do the same to Western boxers who've failed drug tests and in particular North American and British ones and I mean the big names and greats. We know that ain't going to happen so no one should take this or these clowns remotely seriously
