Case in question, the WBC Interim Champion belt, which according to the WBC is for all intents and purposes is considered a true WBC World title holder in the Heavyweight Division

....except in the instance where he meets the WBC Champion in a unified bout.

So would you consider the holder of an interim belt, as a world champion?

    Nope. Case closed.

Same as Charlo's bull**** that he got off Canelo. Or Charr's Belt.
Same goes for the whole IBO. Unified or otherwise

But if the sanctioning body considres an interim holder, as a world title holder for all intents and purposes, then technically could the boxer in question claim that he was a world title holder at some point?

Yes he could. But I wouldn't agree with him.

For example I like Rocky Fielding and wouldn't want to **** on his chips but he wasn't a world champion at SMW

I don't count them. Never have. I've always said that GGG didn't match Hopkins records.
Same as Canelo being a 3 weight world champion

    Charr's belt is bizzare.

I thought he had signed to fight Bryan.
This WBA thing never ends ... Wallin is 4 so I guess Fury gets ranked in there if he wins, so perhaps
he's going to look at fighting Charr in December????

No. Even the "real" belt holders are not considered champions. They are what they are: They hold a belt. Wilder is a good example: He's not the champion because he never dared to be one. Ruiz Jr. took the chance and therefore is champion.

Basically it’s a belt for the mandatory challenger that buys the sanctioning body some time from ordering the champion to fight the mandatory. As seen with Canelo eventually they will strip the champion if he doesn’t fight a mandatory.

The whole Franchise debacle was a way to strip Canelo without offending him they way they did when they stripped him for not fighting GGG.. Sauliman just came out and said Canelo will be the franchise champion in any division he fights as long as he wins..

With the interim one it would be 21. That one isn't counted as such

I wear a Belt most days for work. Does that make me a champion?

No just means I need to lose a bit of weight and stop being in between trouser size's

Interim belts have basically ruined the sport. Try selling boxing to someone now and explain to them that there can be up to a dozen world champions" in any given weight division, including super, regular, gold, diamond, international, global, franchise and interim. Soon we'll have transcontinental, super continental, hemisphereal, intergalactic and universal titles.
