What were some of the coolest and most unique boxing nicknames throughout history? For me, the one boxing nickname that I have always liked the most is "El Terrible". What ones jump to mind?
Freda "Scoop it like" Silibovsky. See, she "scoops" her uppercuts from about the knee, up into the opponents head or stomach. Sometimes coochie. Either way, it's an awesome punch that inspired an awesome nickname for an awesome lady. Also, Gerald "The Jedi" Nobles. :yep
Not sure if they're cool, but some unique ones... "Sugar Poo" "Manassas Mauler" "Momma's Boy" "Hold my Beer" "Hispanic Causing Panic" "Second to" Nunn "The Ding a Ling Man" "Bayonne Bleeder" "The Mongoose" "Mantequilla" "El Intocable"
That was going to be my pick... So I will add, while he was undefeated, Michael 'Second to' Nunn always seemed pretty cool to me. Like Tommy, I too preferred Motor City Cobra to Hitman. Wepner's Bayonne Bleeder always made me chuckle. I liked this British Cruiserweight's nickname: Chris 'P' Bacon. I liked it to when they had a nickname for fighters punches; Ingemar Johansson's right hand was so fearsome it had two names (Hammer of Thor/Ingo's Bingo); Suzie Q; 'enry's Hammer. The last example I can think of this when (another quality nickname, I forgot) Donavon 'Razor'* Ruddock, labelled his hybrid uppercut/hook, somewhat unimaginatively, The Smash... *For the Brits; does it annoy you that Neil 'Razor' Ruddock claims he got the name for slashing his opponents? No you did not!!! You out and out stole it when (Donavon) Ruddock was in the Country getting publicity for the Lewis fight.
He was no Game Chicken, Jukebox Timebomb or Hitler the Killer. Hell he was not even an Elvis Parsley.
