He's a Mexican of course but do you think he embodies the famous come ahead aggressive Mexican style of fighting? Did he approximate that more in his younger years?

    No.

Mexican style is very overused. Arguello is from Nica and was way more Mexican style than say some like Zarate? Roman Gonzales, also not Mexican. Morales, Marquez, Barrera, an elite boxer style. HBO was promoting JCC hard at the time to get the Mexican fans in chairs. I haven't heard Mexican style in a long time really.

He is Mexican however by nature he is a counter puncher boxer which is why he will have problems with the very elite boxer types like Floyd and Bivol yet do very well against Lil g who he is much more skillful than.

No, he rarely gets hit and when he does knows how to take the sting off of it.

Very good description. Juan Manuel Marquez was like that ditto the all time great Salvador Sanchez.

Shut up you silly little twerp! Lil g and Canelo fought 3 times and Canelo won every time although admittedly the judges scored the 1st fight a draw. The problem with you is you get all caught up in your feelings and ignore reality. Bottom line is Canelo > Lil g!

He's very adept both offensively and defensively. He's a slick ginger power puncher.

Problem is many fans don't understand what they seeing with their eyes or they see things that aren't actually there.

Look at how so many grossly underrated or were just completely incapable of seeing the skill level of deep Soviet brothers like Kovalev, GGG, Beterbiev, Bivol, and even Usyk who supposedly stood no chance against the big boys up at HW even though Serge told you long before and many times that his speed, skills and other attributes would cause them nightmares and he would become champion at that weight too.

People thought the likes of Kovalev, GGG and Beterbiev were just power punchers but in time many of these doubters who were sceptical of not only the skill level of these fighters but also what their eyes were seeing but their brains failed to comprehend came to realize that they can actually box really well and that their skill level is much higher than they previously thought. Kovalev outboxed Ward and GGG outboxed Clenelo

Bivol is and always has been one of best defensive boxers in the sport but you would never hear his name being mentioned in any best defence type discussions even though he literally gets hit less than everyone else. Serge had to tell you this before the Clenelo fight and once again he was proven right.

Serge will even extend this to Twink. Sure he has a severe allergy to elite fighters (especially a particular Ukrainian one) and his resume is pure PBC/Showtime smoke and mirrors, but Serge has always admitted he's not just a power puncher and that his skill level is underrated by many.

It's the same with Inoue and Fulton. Serge told the ignorant and unenlightened that there was much more to Inoue than just power and that he was very skillful too and look what happened when he fought the supposedly much more skillful boxer Fulton? He won every round at a canter and barely got hit before knocking Fulton senseless.

There are still may out there who cannot grasp the concept of slow-fast speed and how supposedly ''slow'' fighters like Big Joe Joyce are able to land with consistency against their opponents despite being ''slow''

And Look at how many attributed qualities to Spence that just weren't there or grossly overrated his skill level.

Remember when they tried to lock Serge in an insane asylum for arguing that Beterbiev was just as if not more skilled than him. Of course Serge was 100% right again but they looked at him like he was crazy when in reality they were the crazy ones.

Serge has seen Beterbiev in there with elite fighters, highly skilled elite ones and even elite highly skilled elite of the elite fighters before (in the amateurs) and he did not look like a fish out of water and completely clueless as to how to try and find a way to get himself back in the water like Spence did against Crawford

TBH what do you class as Mexican style of fighting ? There has been many skilled Mexican fighters such Canto, Marquez, Sanchez, etc.

You also have aggressive come forward fighters like Chavez, but even he was methodical and skillful about his approach.

Is Mexican style of fighting an all out brawl ?
