Well deserved. On the trajectory of an ATG career, already a hof in my book. He beats almost everyone, just not the man - Floyd Joy Sinclair, Mayweather.
Great fighter, but I always feel like his career is missing something. Or maybe its just him as a person. His fights have been boring since GGG. His best fight is his only lost. IMO
I just posted in the other thread that Canelo is my number 1 pick for Fighter of the Year too. Well deserved.
I like that Canelo puts a lot of effort into his pro boxing career. For example, he takes steroids, pays off judges, carefully selects opponents. Some other fighters don't even train. You can see that Canelo actually takes his career seriously and he is a good example how a mediocre fighter can become a boxing superstar just with a little effort. Look at other fighters. For example, Tyson Fury doesn't even have a coach and spent most of his career doing coke and drinking.
Alvarez beat Jacobs and a drained to a zombie version of a past prime Kovalev, the latter fight was a disgrace. Pacquiao beat an undefeated Thurman and Broner, he should be the fighter of the year.
It should be Manny Pacquiao, considering he's age 40 and he dominated two much bigger men in their prime.
Kovalev couldn't even prepare for the fight against Alvarez. He didn't have enough time to rest, didn't have enough time to train and couldn't make even weight. Had no stamina, no punch resistance. Even Yarde would have knocked him out if he had faced that version of Kovalev. That fight was a mockery of boxing, a disgrace to the sport.
That's because you don't watch fights and just read results online. Kovalev was a zombie in that fight and Jacob's was ok, but didn't really try.
Fighters used to fight 10X a year. Ruiz had one month to prep for Joshua. Kovalev opted to fight Yarde instead of Canelo. Kovalev said he was ready for Canelo.
A zombie that was completely in the fight until Canelo landed his overhand right, left hook to the jaw, followed by a straight right to the tip of his jaw to put the Krush the Krusher and put him to sleep.
You don't know me so focus on boxing. Kovalev was far from a zombie, he was not in the best shape of his life but still it was a very good win and performance by Canelo. Jacobs is great and saying he didn't try is unfair to him, to Canelo and to anyone's intellect.
Canelo didn't even do anything and Kovalev was dead tired after 5 rounds. Kovalev himself only threw light jabs. Not a single heavy shot. Even Kovalev himself said that he was in such a terrible condition that he couldn't throw power shots. If instead of Canelo any other top 30 boxer would be there the result would be the same.
