    Hi guys,

I figured out something that I want to try and I want to run it by you.

When you have a decent workout (two hours) with good intensity, I gather that the body needs to restore protein, electrolyte and sugar levels as well as rehydrate.

The plan would be to have Gatorade powder and whey powder handy so I could make and guzzle down the Gatorade drink and the protein shake shortly after the workout.

Am I making any sense? Do you have suggestions about this?

You have just made you own post recovery shake.

Gatorade is full of fast acting carbs.....which you need after trainning to spike your insulin levels and replenish glycegon stores, and some electrolytes which are lost through sweat.

You can do this if you want, it won't do you any harm

Might even safe you some money man.

But take it as soon as you finishing training, that's the whole point of these shakes.

Make a shake with dextrose(glucose) to recover blood sugar.

Dextrose >>>>>>> High Fructose Corn Syrup

Gatorade and PP is pretty much ideal and what i usually do. You could also use bananas and milk or chocolate milk.

Gatorate is a load of ****. You'd be much better off drinking tap water and making a smoothie, add some protein if you wish.

16oz of chocolate milk, no joke. They have done numerous research on this and have found a much higher recovery rate than other methods. Chocolate milk is the perfect ratio of protein/carbs/fats. A friend of mine went to a conference in which the Atlanta Falcons trainer discussed this also. Hope this helps.
