In light of the recent Wills threads I thought it might be interesting to match Harry with an earlier big guy,[for his era.]
Suzie Q, one of our best posters imo ,ranks Wills in the top 20 heavies of all time and he has a solid case for putting him there.
So lets match up Wills against Jeffries prime for prime 15rds, 1920's gloves and refereeing. Who is your pick?

    15 rounds probably helps Wills.

No one really made a dent on Jeffries in his prime, but did he fight a puncher like Wills? Then again Wills doesn't seem to have the best chin, and I think Jeffries packed enough of a punch to KO him.

I think 15 rounds would be enough for Jeffries to get the KO.

Thank you for the kind words

I probably favor Jeffries slightly, although Wills has a good case

    They were sincere ones.
I'd go for Jeffries because I think he could take Wills shots and I'm not sure the reverse is the case. I would not be laying any money on it though.

Wills would cut up Jeffries badly, coast to a easy decision, newspaper or otherwise.
Would be as bad a beat down as Hopkins-Pavlik. Jeffries to much of an oaf to stay
competitive with Wills, who fought pretty much like Johnson. No reason to see any other
outcome. I don't care how strong Jeffries was; this is boxing, not weightlifting.

Over 15 round s I'd give it to Jeff .But he'd be hit and hurt like never before in his prime. Both men's faces would be cut up and marked. Either a very late round ko or points win for the bear.

Given the relative lack of footage of both, I would probably have to call it for Jeffries, if only based on his consistency.

It would be a fairly plastic pick, that could change if more information became available.

Hard to pick against Jeffries prime-for-prime.

Wills seemed to be the bigger, stronger man against the men he defeated and I don't see him being stronger or tougher than Jeffries ..

Wills. Not much of a doubt. Beat better comp and was much better tested over the long run.. More dynamic. Greater carriage

    Basically how I see it.

If we compare them only by the flowery verbiage used for both... Jeffries wins by a mile. Based on facing better foes, I think Wills comes out clearly ahead.

Wills faced guys taller and heavier than Jeffries. Other than Johnson, Jeff never faced any really good fighter in Wills' size range.

Wills certainly defeated the better competition, if size and activity is considered in the mix.

On the other hand, Jeff appears to have the better chin and was perhaps the more durable man. Punching power is hard to judge, but again might favor Jeff.

More or less a toss up, but having to pick one, I go with Wills.

I think a case can be made either way.

Hard to say based off what I heard it would be both of their toughest fights in Prime
