I feel it`s really hard to layer your offense and set up shots, but which harder, evading shots or landing them?
Think physics for a moment, Mark....can the entire body move as fast as a single punch? My gut says no, so then it becomes a matter of anticipation, predicting what, where and when your opponent is gonna throw and learning that, to me, seems a lot harder than learning how to punch.
It`s harder to open up a fighter without getting countered then, because you have to punch and then get your whole head or body out of the way. Being defensively responsible after punching is harder to do than just slipping shots.
It's the mixture of landing clean punches and avoid being hit by clean punches. There are a lot of good fighters who are good in landing punches but also not really defending well enough. There are a lot of good fighters who are moving really well to avoid getting hit but they do not win fights with that kind of style. The sweet science of boxing is the mixture of those two things: Punch, land and defend. Repeat it.
its harder to land clean punches. if you concentrated on just defense, you could avoid almost ever shot. if you concentrated on just landing good punches, you wont come close to landing every punch.
Definitely harder to land clean punches because that way you have to face the heat at some point as you have to be in the pocket within some sort of range, you can focus solely on defending, not let your hands go and lose a clear decision which isn’t as difficult.
Avoiding shots consistently. Anyone can land or avoid a punch but to to do both is the trick. If you can land while avoiding well, now youre boxing.
