Amazon Prime Video, which exclusively streamed the four world title matches including Inoue vs. Nery, announced on the 7th that "Prime Video Presents Live Boxing 8" achieved the highest peak viewership in the history of Japanese Prime Video.

The scene where Inoue knocked out Nery recorded the highest peak viewership.

This surpassed last year's fifth World Baseball Classic (WBC) final between Japan and the United States, which previously held the record for the highest peak viewership.

Mr. Takashi Kodama, Country Manager of Prime Video Japan, commented, "Thank you very much for watching 'Prime Video Presents Live Boxing 8.' The excitement of that night at the Tokyo Dome still hasn't faded even a night after. We sincerely appreciate being able to stream this historic fight on Prime Video. We are pleased to report that the KO scene of Naoya Inoue in 'Prime Video Presents Live Boxing 8' recorded the highest peak viewership in the history of Japanese Prime Video. I am delighted that so many people watched 'Prime Video Presents Live Boxing 8.' We will continue to work hard to deliver even more attractive content to everyone."

Furthermore, Mr. Hideyuki Ohashi, Chairman of the Ohashi Gym, commented, "It was very challenging to prepare for boxing matches at the Tokyo Dome for the first time in 34 years, but I believe we were able to deliver the charm of boxing to everyone through these intense fights. I have heard that many people watched the streaming on Prime Video, even those who could not come to the venue last night. If this streaming has sparked an interest in boxing for you, I would be delighted."

The baseball comparison isn't entirely accurate because WBC was also being broadcast on terrestrial TV at the same time, so most would have watched it there. Nonetheless Amazon Prime seems happy with the numbers

Awesome news. Inoue's a major star in Japan. Absolutely zero reason he should fight anywhere else from an economic standpoint.

Yeah idk why people keep crying about him not fighting in the states. There’s no star at 118-126 that would warrant him being a big main event draw. No way he sells 55k in the us. He does have an advantage fighting in Japan because he uses the crowd to his advantage.

Always good to see any fighter drawn fans, when boxing is usually such a niche sport. It's clear Inoue has achieved another level of popularity in Japan after becoming undisputed for a 2nd time. I was surprised he sold out a 55K stadium, he's been selling out decent sized indoor arenas in Japan but this was a big jump in ticket sales. Question is will they go even bigger next time as clearly with this being sold out they could have sold more.

It shouldn't even matter if he's a huge star or draw in Japan or not or one of the biggest in world boxing. He's the champ. The undisputed champ and he can fight where he wants and if he chooses not to travel no one should be lecturing or pressuring him to do so, especially those from the mansion sized glass houses across the pond. Their boys can dust off their passports and play by the same set of rules the rest of us have to play by and their commissions should stop stacking the deck with home refs and three home judges for world title fights when foreigners fight over there because it literally doesn't happen anywhere else in the world.

All these world title fights in Japan, all the officials from neutral countries

    Inoue vs McDonnell
    Inoue vs Payano
    Inoue vs Nonito I
    Inoue vs Nonito II
    Inoue vs Butler
    Inoue vs Fulton
    Inoue vs Tapales
    Inoue vs Nery

All in the US and, with the exception of 1 neutral ref (which is extremely rare over there) for the Jermello vs Castano rematch, all the officials were from the US

    Loma vs GRJ
Loma vs Teofimo (undisputed for goodness sake)
    Loma vs Haney (undisputed again)
    Kambosos vs Teofimo (and again)
    Taylor vs JCR (and again)
Jermello vs Castano I (and again)
Jermello vs Castano II (and again)

I can just keep going and going

Didn’t they score the GRJ fight an SD or something absurdly close too?

Yeah it really makes no financial sense for him to fight outside of Japan unless the Saudi's stump up some big money for him to fight in Saudi Arabia. I've seen reports that he made 1 billion Yen for the Nery which is $6.4 milliion USD. No fighter at 122 or 126 is making anywhere near that right now. Which is why Inoue has had no problem securing his choice of opponents, because he guarantees his opponents by far the biggest payday available.

Yeah, MD because one of the judges had it a draw. Loma beat the Jesus out of GRJ and at worst won 9-3. It was almost as bad as the even card for Clenelo against Floyd. There's no way you can watch that fight and have it remotely close. It was a legit ass whooping

Yeah people never talk about that card when we talk about bad decisions but I remember it being a complete schooling. If that was an MD Inoue could have lost against Nonito in their first fight with the right judge.

Yeah, it's sickening levels of corruption. Loma has been screwed by the judges in the US many times and I'm not even alluding to getting robbed. I just mean by the margin of defeat on some of the judge's cards or even just awarding rounds to his opponents they clearly didn't win in his victories

    The MD against GRJ

119–109 against Teofimo even though Loma clearly swept most of the rounds in the second half of the fight

    116-112 vs Haney

And even against Nakatani who is obviously not from the US one judge gave Nakatani two rounds despite the fact it was a one-sided massacre. Loma beat the absolute crap out of Nakatani and won every round with ease

It was suggest on ProBox tv and I agree....an Inoue fight outdoors in Dodger Stadium in LA with Shohei Otani in attendance would be amazing. Capacity 56,000 with more standing room.

Add Anna Sawai and it's a done deal.

Inoue´s USA debut vs Nieves had all 3 American judges. And Inoue fought an American.
Meanwhile Fulton always had American judges in his world title fights. Talk about privileged. Imagine the outrage if Inoue had all Japanese judges.
