Is Inoue’s success due to him or his opposition?

Inoue is the biggest name below Featherweight. Infact he may be the only big name below featherweight as his opposition are always massively inferior to him. The question then becomes is Inoue the best because he’s perfected the sport or is it because his opposition is just very poor? Bonus question: would Inoue still be great if he was bigger and had to fight people like Crawford or Canelo?

His resume is levels above most of his fellow P4Pers. Clearly it's 100% due to him.

With this and the lifetime ban for Kingry thread in the same week. You're making a play for the ****tiest poster of 2024 award.

His resume isn’t poor but what he’s lacking is big punchers on his resume. After the Donaire fight I always said big punchers are the only ones that can give him some trouble. Now this isn’t his fault since there aren’t a lot of big punchers at his weight class.

I don't think his opposition is bad however he is clearly head and shoulders above it. He's not ducking some big name in the weight that is an obvious threat. Nery and Fulton are accomplished fighters and he took them apart

No. It is just that Inoue is so good he makes it look so easy. Nery is a huge puncher and put him down with a good, solid shot and all Inoue did was get up and proceed to beat the crap out of him.

    Stop with the Troll posts.

both. he is technically superior to his opposition, AND he is naturally a bigger framed guy than them. inoue is not a small 122. he is wide and solid.

His opponents might not be household names, but they're one hundred percent legit, and you only need to watch them to know they're no scrubs in either the technical or power punching departments.

I can understand your post, but he clearly has fight ending raw power which his opponents have all struggled with.

Nery was very reckless in there and his defence was poor. If anyone stands in front of Inoue they are going to be in trouble. You have to box him with a ramrod job, which is very easy to say on a forum. Him v prime Naz, PacMan or Loma at 126lbs would have been epic.

The argument could be made that the little guy divisions in striking and grappling are way deeper because there's not many other sports for them to go to.

It's just that they mostly have feather dusters so they don't draw. Inoue is the generational exception.

I remember people putting this up after he had brutally beaten the #1's in 3 different divisions already, constantly saying he had to "prove" himself.
Then after he beat "a real test" by early KO he had to prove himself again, and again and again...
He's now 22-0, 20 in titlefights against 15 different (former) champions after only 27 fights.

Well, his opposition isn't very poor. I mean he's beaten world class fighters ,but he could use sort of a career defining win and sometimes the opponent just ain't there.
