Is there any boxer (or any athlete) with a more insane reach-to-height ratio than Sonny Liston?

So Sonny Liston stood at 6'1 (185cm) and had an absolutely mind-boggling 84 inch (213) reach. That's an absolutely massive 15% increase over his height. It even puts other famously long-armed fighters like Jon Jones (6'4 to 85 inch) and Jarrett Hurd (5'11 to 78 inch) to shame.

Can anyone find any fighter or athlete in general with a more bonkers wingspan? It really puts into perspective how dangerous Liston was as a fighter, having what many people consider to be the most powerful jab in boxing history AND an absolutely insane reach to go along with it!

For extra fun, who's the fighter with the shortest reach relative to their height that you can find? I'll start with a guy who's famous for having T-Rex arms in the UFC's Artem Lobov, with a pitiful 65 inch reach against his 5'9 height. A 6% decrease. (For reference, any fighter with a reach equal to or shorter than their height is considered to have a short reach)

    Liston’s reach wasn’t really 84 inches.

Really? That's interesting. I'm not saying I don't believe you but do you have a source for that?

He was measured officially by the NSAC as having a 80.5 inch reach before his fight with Leotis Martin.

Maurice Hooker is 5'11" with an 80" reach which is just freaky.

Yep, it is... Floyd already had a very long reach with 72" at 5' 8", but still with a 1 to 1.09 ratio not as crazy as Liston.
I mentioned this before, that many of the ATG's had a very favorable size/reach ratio, which obviously is a huge advantage.
He can probably touch his knees with his fingertips when standing up straight :sisi1

I think it is worth noting wingspan records are often wrong. I'm not sure why. I vaguely remember Luis Ortiz had his wingspan listed as super long when it obviously wasn't (and now appears to be corrected). I'm not 100% sure I'm remembering this correctly though -- it might have been someone else.

That said, Bryant Jennings is a notable modern example:
    Height 6′ 3″ / 191cm
    Reach 84″ / 213cm

So an extra 11.5% reach over height.

It may be this listing is actually inaccurate, but you can indeed tell by looking at pictures of Jennings, that his arms truly are crazy, disproportionately long.

When we know that the heights of boxers are often wrong, we can think that it is even worse for the reach.
Moreover Luis Ortiz had a huge reach before his fight against Wilder (214cm it seems to me). It has since gone back to 198cm.

According to BoxRec, Patsy Perroni's reach of 87½ exceeded his height of 6'1½ by an incredible 19%!

At the other end of the scale we have Jose Legra, whose 63" reach was 7.4% shorter than his 5'8" height.

Both of these are obviously wrong - as is Liston's reach of 84", no doubt!

You could be super wide but have short(er) arms and on paper it could look like you have an insane reach, but in reality that extra body mass/width could be a hinderance to you reaching your target quickly or with any accuracy.

Seems like Diego Corrales was kinda T Rex-ish.

Went to boxrec; he was a half inch taller than his span. 5 10.5 and 70 inch reach. Not that much. Doesn't seem like he was real wide across the back. Maybe he had a long torso and so it looked like he had short arms to me...

Sam Langford, A short man at around 5' 7”s who had unusually long 74 reach for his size because of his broad shoulders and was as close to a complete fighter as you can get.
