Why does Miguel Cotto get auto pass for running away from Pacquiao in the last few rounds of their fight?

Jim Limpley "Miguel Cotto has started to retreat, constantly"

He had his running boots on for sure, just trying not to get knocked out and robbing us of a highlight reel ko

Why didn't he stand and fight?

Cotto really won the fight. I look at Miguel Cotto as an undefeated fighter when he fought $.

    is he or Shane Mosley?
when the crowd started chanting knock him out, knock him out
then he started to run away

If he would have boxed intelligently he might have made it a few rounds closer and lasted to a decision.

But the difference between fighter at Cotto's level and Mayweather and Mannys is that they can be defensive and offensive at the same time. Cotto really cant. Hes either in attack mode or retreating. Did the same against Mayweather. There were points in the fight he stands in the center of the ring and lets fighters tee off on him.

Miguel is a funny dude sometime.

Miguel: I felt good at 145 during the PAC, there were no weight issue at all.
2 years later: PAC drained me that's why lost.

PAC: I'll give Cotto a rematch at 150.

Cotto: PAC need to stop draining me and fight me at my weight, I will only fight him at 154. I can't make 150 anymore.

Cotto on Margarito: I wanted the fight at 150 but he couldn't make it so we had to settle at 153. I can make 150 easily.

Pacquiao will dominate Cotto all the time. Cotto's style is easy for Pacquiao.

I remember Pacquiao saying, cotto will run once he gets cracked a few times.I usually listen to boxers, since they're the one in the ring.Pacquiao seemed more confident than Cotto coming into the fight for some reason.I guess he knew he would be too much for Miguel Angel Cotto.

Although, Pac took gruesome damage himself the bottom line is he is tougher than Angel Miguel Cotto.

Boxers are human, not robots, why should Cotto stand there & take highly damaging punches to the head & face just to please some teenage internet tough guys ?.... guys that have likely never had a street fight that lasted more than 40 seconds without screaming `aaahh stop, you win` as soon as the first decent punch connects.

    This :deal

Pac was on incredible form in that fight, towards the end the only chance Miguel had was either Pac gassed or he managed to catch Pac somehow when he was stepping in and hurt him.

Neither of those would of happened if he tried to get Hattoned.

As a hardcore Cotto fan I was highly disappointed when Cotto started running from Pacquiao, but it is what it is I guess, they were a lot of things going on with Cotto that contributed to Cotto fighting the way he did.

But credit to Pacquiao for having a top level performance, nothing wrong to losing to Pacquiao but even I would say that Cotto should have went out better than that.
