http://www.muscleprodigy.com/mike-tyson-workout-and-boxing-routine-arcl-984.html Tyson had a pretty interesting workout routine. However, don't you think all that training he did (I mean he did it 7 days a week) could lead to a little over-training? I think the most effective boxers need to a day off and I think so much hard work may of led to his downfall.
I know that a lot of hard trainers; top athletes and bodybuilders... don't believe in such a thing as overtraining as long as you get enough proper rest... and if training actually is your job then getting plenty of rest isn't all that hard to do.
every time someone posts this I laugh at: "6am: come back home shower and go back to bed (great workout for those huge legs of his)" showering and sleeping a great workout for his legs!?
I have read this before and the part that always baffles me is him going to bed straight after the run, waiting up to several hours before something is being eaten. After you have trained you're meant to put the fuel back in your body
see he didnt do 500 push ups at once everyday, he did them in sets of 50 thats quite possible definitly tough workout (for a heavyweight).
According to Kevin Rooney.... First few weeks: Run 1-2 miles at 4am Start gym work at 2pm or 4pm depending on how he felt; Work the Willie for 10-15min Work the heavy bag for 20-30min, Work the punch pads for 20-30min -Working on specific combinations drilled over and over, using numbers system, focusing on moving the head after the last punch thrown Then calisthenics, including neck braces. Next 5-6 weeks: Run 2-3 miles at 4am Work the Willie for 10-15min Sparring...work up to 15-16 rounds full-contact w/ no headgear (with fighters like Jesse Ferguson, Oliver McCall, Mike Williams and Glenn McCrory) Work slip bag for 10-15min Work the speed bag for 10-15min Then calisthenics. As far as weights, there was a barbell and some plates at Catskill and instructions on a little wall poster how to do each exericse. Tyson did that sometimes, but wasn't part of the routine.
these ' training routines ' are all over the internet theres never any solid source backing them up , until i see sources i wont believe it i could quite easily make up a routine that sounds believeable and you wouldnt know
