Crawford is getting old so I hope this is the very next fight. But it probably won't happen, Eddie Hearn wants to keep Boots at 147 and collect the belts while aging Crawford out. Crawford knows this and I expect the old man to retire if he becomes undisputed at 154

    Boots vs Vergil Ortiz
    Bud vs Fundora
At least let's get to see Boots and Ortiz against some real competition in each other. Right now I'm not really sure how good they are or can be.

Then the winners unify some time next year?

Crawford didn't look great against Madrimov. However, I think Madrimov would also give Ennis real problems too.

154 is where it's at, that's where the match should take place.

As of today April 16th 2025 I believe Boots is too active, too quick and too young for Bud at 154 lbs. Bud who is 41-0 with 31 ko's has fought 3 times in the last 3 years , a total of 27 rounds while Ennis is 34-0 with 30 ko's has 6 fights during that time. Ennis at 5 10' is 2 inches taller and the reach is even at 74' . An here is a big one, Ennis is 27 and Bud is 37 , and Boots has a definite hand speed advantage in this fight. Looking at these comparisons I can't see Bud winning, even though he'll land some good counters I don't see his power bothering Boots at 154 lbs and Ennis will be far more busy. If Canelo doesn't give Bud the cash out fight he wants,,,and that's what it is, I'm having doubts that Bud, who'll be 38 in September , wants a young 27 year old in his prime at a weight much heavier than where he began.

I think Crawford would win and by stoppage

I think Ennis will have some success in the early rounds but Crawford will eventually time him and take over

I actually said that Ennis would give Crawford the best fight and have the best chance of beating him at 147 or 154 even more than Charlo who was unisputed at the time

I'd have to go with Crawford, even now. But if the fight were to happen in September instead of the Canelo one, I feel like Ennis would have a good bit more success than if the fight had happened a year or two back, largely owed to Crawford's inactivity.

So yeah, I'll echo the notion that Boots would have some success early, but I feel like it'd fall into a very back and forth affair once Bud shook off yet another layer of rust before culminating in Bud landing one too many times on Ennis' pretty porous defense.

Hell of a fight either way though, shame it seems the door is closed on it.

Boots would win some rounds but Crawford would expose that flaw Boots has when he steps out of the pocket with his guard down Crawford would time him and drop him and likely finish him off.

Boots has a leaky defense. '54 is a dangerous division right now. Suddenly 147 became easier to make now..

I'd give Crawford the edge though I don't like the way he moved since beating Spence. Bud may have lost his drive to fight though it won't be evident until he faces somebody really elite.

I'm not sure boots is that guy. The guy he just beat had one fight in 3 years. One thing you won't see is Ennis in the ring with a puncher. Nobody dangerous.

You leaving out Murta who might be the best and most vicious at '54
