Let’s assume that he’s at his best for each fight.

    Against:
    Valdes-Spoon KO 5
    Williams-Spoon close decision
Machen (not really a victim)-Spoon huge points win
    Folley50/50 close decision either way
Patterson-50/50 either guy close fight and good at that

Beats them all and Sonny Liston diehard fans would try anything to discredit those wins.

I believe that IF patterson darts in and out, using his superior speed and sheer boxing skills to hit and run, he would win by a close decision.
I also think that Williams has a chance (anyone with his kind of power does) if he gets in a lucky shot.
But witherspoon at his best was certainly capable of beating both as well.

I actually think I kind of proved it here: definitely drugs and weight problems plagued numerous Spoon fights, but as far as skills go, you never feed Spoon the short end of the stick fellows, he was too solid a boxer.

I think Witherspoon would like win all matches individually , but of he fought them all, of Liston's opponents ( omit Ali ) would likely lose one.

Knockouts for just about everybody other than Machen, and Eddie would have to try hard to not get blasted.
I dunno why some people on here think Williams has a chance, as a peak Witherspoon took hits from Snipes, Bruno, Cummings, Smith, and many other strong heavyweights without getting put down. I really don't think of Cleveland as close in level to any of those guys, hell, he'd probably get befuddled just watching tape of Tim's skills.

Williams doesn't come close to.... Cummings? I agree Williams chances aren't serious, but a guy with his power always has a puncher's chance.

Patterson or Machen have the best chance of pulling an upset here.

Yes, it sounds like a joke, but Cummings was much better than Williams. Good chin, gave Snipes a hard fight and nearly knocked out Bruno- Only for him to get saved by the bell. I don't think Cleveland could've done gone the distance against either of those men. I agree with you in most cases, but I don't see it happening here. Peak Witherspoon's chin was pretty damn great, not to mention his sweet defensive technique.

They have the best chances, yes, but I don't see it happening. If everyone's at the top of their game, Tim will prevail.

Patterson & Folley would be a hard night’s work but Witherspoon might win those. I think he could beat the rest on paper, but would he tear through the division with Liston’s consistency? Seems unlikely.

It would be interesting to see him in the division at that time, though. He & Liston might be circling each other & Patterson for the belt.

Whiterspoon would beat them all, in his 14th he went distance with Holmes, maybe even beat him unlike Williams who in his 34th fight lost against Satterfield.

He would beat Folley by KO and Patty by UD.

He'd beat them all if sober and fit, but he wasn't always sober and fit.
