For Those Of You Who Can't Translate Boxing Matches Into A Definition... let me sum it up for some of you real quick and put you on some interesting points...

floyd out skilled jmm for every second of the fight... jmm barely punched him and floyd did what he wanted to.... which basically means that no matter what weight this fight was out the outcome would have been the same exact thing.... pound for pound floyd would do this to jmm at any weight

    now

if any other welter fought jmm... it would have been more competitive but would probably end in jmm getting knocked out though... why though? because the other welters would use their size against jmm... some thing floyd really didnt do at all in this fight... shane mosley, miguel cotto, joshua clottey, couldnt make juan manuel marquez connect with only like 12% of his punches

Not what I saw. Mayweather outmaneuvered and outpositioned Marquez for every second of that fight with far superior footspeed, flexibility, agility, and overall athleticism. Marquez was able to tag the best defensive fighter in boxing with impressive looking leads and counters the small handful of times he was actually in position to land anything.

He did exactly what was expected out of him.

I still think Shane, PW and perhaps Pac/Cotto would beat him.

yeah my point is that floyd totally "outskilled" marquez... he didnt "bully" him... you pretty much agreed with me....

foot speed, flexibility, agility, maneuverablility, and plain old speed is better the lower you get... all of that translates no matter what weight you go to.. flat out power does not translate... if this fight occured at a lower weight it could have been worse for marquez

Not at all, it is well documented that Marquez has lost speed with age and the added pounds. Unlike Pacquiao who is a physical marvel, JMM has not brought his speed and power up with him.

Marquez is a counterpuncher first who likes to fight grueling fights where he can have a decent/high frequency, he just fought a bigger, faster and perhaps smarter counterpuncher whom does not want to hold a higher pace than 35-45 punches per round.

Marquez could barely move the lower half of his body at that weight. That has it's importance. Mayweather's abilities are too much at any weight, but a more mobile Marquez does better than the guy we saw the other night, don't you think, WWM? He showed that when he was able to get in range.

Considering the huge disparity in weight - Mayweather was fighting a much smaller man who had to put on too much weight too quickly, JMM was slowed down and uncomfortable to his new weight. The size difference also translates into punch power, resistance and stamina. Size always matters.

Definately. A more mobile Marquez probably wins a round or two(possibly three), and lands in the double digits a few rounds as well.

I'll agree that JMM was completely outboxed. But what makes you think that if they have fought at 130 or 135 the outcome would've been the same? Marquez can hardly move. He was already flat footed at 135 you know.

I don't agree. Only because At 144 JMM was very slow. Being a slow fighter, who gives away physical advantages along with natrual ability advantages b/c of the higher weight that isn't suited for JMM, it puts him at a further disadvantage.

had JMM been faster and had better reflexes that he had at the lower wieghts Floyd wouldn't have been as dominant. The outcome may have been the same with JMM loosing but it wouldn't have been as one sided.

:good Everything has to be put into perspective. At 144 JMM is clearly not able to be as effective as he was at the lower weight classes b/c his body didn't respond to the added weight...No matter how much **** he drinks.

oh ok..... so marquez will lose 9-3 instead of 12-0

    sorry

    edit:

lets not forget at a lower weight floyd would be a hell of a lot faster as well

Possible. Floyd is a rare talent. But he lost more rounds to Ricky who doesn't operate on the skill level as a Prime or even a past his physcal prime Juan Manuel Marquez. JMM would fare a lot better at his natrual weight, in his prime against a prime Floyd Mayweather. Stylistically JMM still is at a disadvantage, but that isn't the biggest problem....its floyd's natural gifts that he holds advantages over almost everyone.

So you admit the only reason Mayweather "fully outboxed" Marquez was because he couldn't move. J/K.

Lets not forget that Floyd has maintained a weight of 147 for years now, and JMM was at 135 earlier this year.
