Yay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have a medical exam booked for tuesday. So I guess it won't be very long until I have a fight lined up right? If anyone of you guys whos got experience and would like to give a noob some advise it would be greatly appreciated.
heres some advice.don't leave soap in your ears before you see the doctor like i did after i got my medical card it was about a month before i boxed. this in the uk ??
Spar a lot before you fight. Don't get in the ring above your natural weight-class. Don't ask me how I know this, I just know
Yeah a few times. Steven Mathews owned me at the Everton park. Also got beat by a guy called Steven Harkin whose pro now- he's really good. I won a few down there as well. Always a good crowd. Mainly boxed in manchester to be honest. Never boxed on a home show till I turned pro.
0 - 0, but my partner stopped going to the gym so i have been trying to convince some more friends to start boxing. When i get back I hope to start fighting though, its something im really looking foreword to
Fought in the Diamond Belt,Silver gloves tournaments 1986&87. Also had some fights in the late 80s all but one fight in Southern California. The last one in Utah in 91 were Gene Fullmer handed out medals. Went 15-3 at 139 and 147.
i had a few in liverpool and as you say the crowds were great and the atmosphere was electric. i boxed in the isle of man too, at the lido in douglas. i had a few in manchester and a couple on our own shows.the tickets for one of our shows had on them ' see all your local stars 'a lot to live up too.
Thank you i trained with a lot of good fighters and world class trainers. I trained under Al Stankie a former pro who guided Paul Gonzalez to a Gold Medal also trained Oscar for a little while in his teenage years(also heard he was working with Morales not to long ago). I sparred with Adrian Arreola when i was 17. You know who Arreola is?
i have to admit, no.there is a gap in my boxing knowledge during the 90's and up till present day.i know when you spar with somebody of a high standard you concentrate a lot more and if you lose concentration ..........you pay for it.
Adrian Arreola knocked out Lupe Pintor and gave a young Chavez all he wanted. Arreola should have been alot better, but he partied too much although he was ranked for a little bit after knocking out Pintor. Was a fringe contender tough journeyman for most of his career, although a hot prospect early on at JL and Feather. He fought in the 80s anyways you are correct about sparring with experienced fighters got to be on your A game, I was in a Zone and he wasnt
